I have had the honour of jurying the 2017 Gerry Brunet Memorial Award for Best British Columbian Short Film at the 29th Vancouver Queer Film Festival with my fellow jury members Patrick Currie and Blair Fukumura.

Watch ten days of queer films from Canada and abroad from August 10 to Sunday, August 20 at various theatres across Vancouver, including the Vancouver Playhouse, Cineplex Odeon International Village, SFU’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, VIFF’s Vancity Theatre and the York Theatre on Commercial Drive. On the closing night of the Festival the winner and runner-up of the Gerry Brunet Memorial Award will be announced.

The annual juried prize for the Vancouver Queer Film Festival’s best BC short film was established in 1997 in recognition of Gerry Brunet, a lifelong contributor to the arts and an early board member of Out On Screen. This award is generously supported by Su Craik and Lisa Heddema and Directors Guild of Canada-BC.
